Club Rules

  1. Hard hats must be worn, correctly fastened, by all riders when mounted on the showground, (EN 1384 or PAS accredited hats)
  2. Whilst all forms of safety and rider protection are encouraged, when worn back protectors should be under a jacket at all events except those involving a cross country phase where the protection will be covered by a bib with number.
  3. There must be no galloping or cantering unless in a collecting or judging ring.
  4. Misuse of whips or spurs will not be tolerated under any circumstances. NO spurs are allowed in any mountain & moorland classes.
  5. All entries are to be made on the entry forms provided and accompanied by the correct money.
  6. Classes will only be delayed for competitors at the judges discretion.
  7. Failure to exhibit any animal entered will entail forfeiture of entry fee.
  8. No horse or pony under 4year may be ridden on the showground.
  9. Stallions Stallions and Colts may not be led by any one who has not attained their 18th birthday before 1st January in the current year at any show. Any pony stallion, not exc 138cms or small breed Mountain and Moorland stallions -e, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Welsh A and B may NOT be ridden by Juniors who have not attained their 12th birthday before 1st January in the current year at any show affiliated to P(UK). Stallions exc 138cms or large breed Mountain and Moorland stallions –ie Connemara, Dales, Fells, Highlands, New Forest, Welsh C and D may NOT be ridden by Juniors who have not attained their 14th birthday before 1st January in the current year at any show.
  10. Dress code requires the headgear should be worn by handlers in in-hand classes.
  11. Dogs must be kept on leads and under control at all times.
  12. Do not muck out your horsebox or trailer on the showground,
  13. Jewellery, indeed, any items that may become entangled and cause danger and/or discomfort to horse or rider are not permitted.
  14. Fall of horse or rider in any class requires that the horse/pony is to be lead from the ring.
  15. All winners of class trophies must guarantee their safe, undamaged return to the show secretary AT LEAST one month before the next presentation.
  16. The committee reserve the right to refuse membership and entries.
  17. The committee reserve the right to cancel or amalgamate classes in the event of insufficient entries.
  18. The committee reserve the right to exclude anyone from behaving in an abusive manner, causing a disturbance or riding dangerously.
  19. B & DRC officers, committee and stewards will not accept any liability for injury to persons or animals, or loss or damage to property of any persons whilst participating or observing on the Showground. This includes vehicles parked as directed, at the owner’s risk.
  20. Objections should be made in writing to the secretary together with £20, which is returnable if the objection is upheld. Any objection MUST be made within 20 minutes of the class ending.
  21. ALL COMPETITORS will be deemed to have read and accepted these rules as a condition of their participation on the Showground.
  22. NO CLAIMS CAN BE ENTERED INTO.
  23. Please can you all take you litter home with you. Could you leave the showground as you would expect to find it.
  24. NOVICE :- Horses or ponies , ridden in a snaffle bridle. The overall winning horse/pony of each novice class will not be eligible to enter the classes in the future.
  25. THE JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL
