Dressage

Welcome to
Bolton & District Riding Club’s
2012 Dressage season

Welcome to B&DRC’s 2012 season. It seems to have been another long, hard winter – rain, wind, mud, dark nights.... need I say more? But as the days become a little lighter, as always we start to look ahead to the better weather and a new season.

2012 looks like being a particularly exciting season as the club celebrates its 50th anniversary – the club was formed in 1962 and moved to its present venue in 1975. I’m sure many people have fond memories of starting competing at B&DRC over the years, be it dressage, showing or jumping. Watch this space to keep up-to-date with our plans to celebrate what, I am sure you will agree, is a remarkable achievement.

As always, the dressage committee has worked hard to put together an interesting schedule, which, hopefully, has something for everyone in it. There are actually very few changes to report this year: the “Intro New Rider” and “Intro Green Horse” classes will continue to be judged separately – this seemed to work well last season and is definitely easier to judge – some of last season’s Intro competitors were really very good and hopefully we will see some of you moving up and having a go at the Prelim tests this year.

Please note, if you are planning to enter the Intro tests, these generally run after lunch – this is a quieter time of day for those with young horses and also once the main arenas are finished, committee members are more available to provide assistance if required.

Beginners Prelim, Prelim & Novice classes remain unchanged and ever popular. Once again Prelim/Novice competitors who wish to try some of the Elementary tests may compete at all 3 levels for one season only (providing you have not had an Elementary placing before the start of this season), thus allowing you to maintain prelim points.

At our early June competition we have once again included a Medium test to enable those working at the higher levels the opportunity to stretch themselves that little bit further.

Good luck to all of our competitors – enjoy the 2012 season!
